The winter was wan, the summer was sere, but the autumn is awesome! I think they call them seasons because they add some spice to our lives.
We were up at Jan and Joe’s cottage in Three Lakes last weekend. The weather was a bit chilly. When we arrived a strong wind was blowing sleet in our faces and whipping up the water in the lake. It eventually settled down and when the sun came out the trees literally glowed. Our plan was to attend the Cranberry Festival in Eagle River. We were able to take a cranberry bog and winery tour in a school bus but never made it to the festival. Since our tour was on Sunday and there was a Packer game, nobody was working at the bog — the cranberries just floated quietly as we drove by. Luckily, the Three Lakes Winery gift store was open and after the tour we were allowed to buy their products.
All was not lost, except for the Packer game, because we enjoyed driving around marveling at the fall colors (sorry, I know that really makes us sound like old folks, but I guess we are). We also ate well, drank well, and relaxed. Nice.
