I’ve been very lucky. I was born into a good family, I married into a good family, and now Kathy and I have a wonderful family of our own. Some would be happy to have one good family; I have three. That’s all well and good, but is vacationing with your family pushing it too far? Well, that’s another area where I’ve been very lucky.
In 1968 Kathy and I started spending a week each July with several of my siblings and their families on Washington Island, Wisconsin. Unfortunately, during our 25 years in Portland, Oregon, we were only able to participate in these group vacations once or twice. Since our return to Wisconsin, however, we’ve again joined the group. Here’s a photo of the gang at the most recent trip.
Kathy’s sister Jan and her husband Joe own a cabin up north and we’ve had several outings there with members of her family. Last summer they planned a full-blown family vacation for a week in Yellowstone Park. We had a fabulous time; so good in fact that they’re now working on another group trip for the summer of 2012. The tentative destination is Alaska, but this is still at the pondering stage. Here’s the gang at the Yellowstone vacation.
I’m looking forward to more trips with these families of mine.
