My late brother-in-law Pudge Sustachek loved the Island.  He used to walk around saying he had Island Fever.  That inspired me to write this song as a follow-up to Figenschau Bay.

Note that the bridge lists the actual menu that we had during the week back in the 70s. How did we eat all of that food?

To this day when we want to express how eager we are to go back to Washington Island we just say we have Island Fever.  This usually starts the day after we get home from vacation.

Ref.  Island fever, I never wanna leave her — Washington Isle.
Every summer my life would be a bummer without Washington Isle.

1.  Some people say they like the city.
Concrete and neon is so pretty.
But give me stone beaches and fishin’ with leeches
And I’ll just say to each his own.

(Repeat Refrain)

2.  Some want the glamour and the glitter.
With all its ozone and its litter.
But I’m doin’ fine just drinking my wine
Up here north of the tension line.

(Repeat Refrain)

Bridge.
Eatin’ smoked fish and suckin’ on beer, thinkin’ of all the food that’s up here,
Like ham with some beans on the side, the biggest turkey that God can provide.
Thick steaks sizzlin’ on the grill, so much lasagna I can eat my fill,
Fish fry on a Friday night, this place is really out of sight!
I’ve got …

(Repeat Refrain)

3.   So leave your worries all behind you,
And go where troubles cannot find you.
Just lay in the sun, go fishin’ for fun,
And hit the bars when the day is done.

(Repeat Refrain)
