A Doggone Good Holiday

Our son Matthew and his wife Lisa live in Indianapolis. We hadn’t seen them in over two years and were very happy when they said they would be joining us for the New Year weekend. When visiting us in the past, they always brought along their dog Pepper. She apparently knows the way to our house and, when they get close, Pepper gets real alert as if to say “We’re almost there!” This time they brought along Pepper’s little brother, Ollie. We hadn’t met him before but apparently he is quite talented. While they were on the road, Matthew texted us a photo showing that Ollie drove part of the way when Matthew got tired!

Ollie at the helm!

We don’t have a doghouse, fortunately for me, but the bedroom in our basement has plenty of room for two adults and two dogs. Since dogs apparently don’t sleep as long as adults, it’s fun when they run up the stairs in the morning and peek through the window to let us know they want to join us.

I know very little about dogs but I do know that both Pepper and Ollie are rescue dogs. Ollie is small and fluffy white while Pepper is mid-sized and has some brown spots. You dog aficionados can probably figure out what kind of dogs they are. If so, please let me know.

The trouble with being the old familiar dog is that everyone wants to spoil the new cuddly dog. When Eric came over, however, he spent some time with each of them.

We thought it would be fun to take a picture so we all put on our holiday finest, even Pepper and Ollie. However, when using a 10-second time it’s a challenge to keep everyone looking at the camera. Or, maybe Pepper was just bored!

Finally, after many tries, Pepper decided to smile at the camera so we could get a family picture.

Happy New Year 2024 to All!
