We went to the University of Wisconsin Arboretum a few days ago to see what the early spring was doing there. If you park at the Visitor Center you can wander through the Longenecker Horticultural Gardens, which is about 50 acres of trees and shrubs. This time of year you can see (and smell) great displays of lilacs, flowering crabapples, magnolias, and other beautiful varieties in all their glory. Mothers’ Day is usually considered to be the time to go but this year I think that will be too late. Many of the crabapples and magnolias are already at their peak and the lilacs are well on their way. You’d probably better head down there on Easter Sunday. In case you can’t make it, here are a few photos from our recent visit.
